YOUR MODEL. YOUR WORKSPACE.

Edit STL Online: Scale, Rotate and Move

Edit STL online with whole-model scale, rotation and position controls, then download the changed geometry. This workspace runs locally in your browser, without an account or model upload. Start with a downloaded part that needs a size or orientation adjustment, and keep your original file for comparison.

Edits run in your browser; files are never uploaded.

When a Whole-Mesh Adjustment Is Enough

Before slicing a downloaded bracket, correct its orientation with a quarter turn, or move an offset mesh toward your chosen coordinates. Use this online STL editor for whole-part adjustments; your slicer may recenter the exported model.

This STL file editor helps you edit 3D printer models whose shape is already right. Save separately and check slicer placement. Individual mounting-hole changes need CAD; triangulated surfaces do not retain sketches or design history.

How to Edit STL Online: Load, Transform and Export

01

Load a part and record its starting size

Select Open STL or drop an ASCII or binary file into the workspace. To edit STL online for the first time, select “Or explore a sample model” before using your own design. Read the X, Y and Z dimensions; the interface labels these Width, Depth and Height.

02

Apply one deliberate transformation

Choose Scale, Rotate or Move. Enter a percentage and select Apply percentage, or enter axis values and select Apply rotation or Apply move. These buttons change geometry. Dragging the camera only changes your viewpoint. Use Undo and Redo to compare the effect of an applied operation.

03

Export and verify the result

Select Export STL to download the transformed vertices as binary STL. Reopen that download and compare its dimensions with your intended result. Save a separate copy of each useful revision. Check the final model in your slicer, including placement, supports and clearances.

What This Tool Can't Do: Editing Boundaries

You can edit STL online to change size, orientation and position, with transformations included in the exported coordinates. Rotation is applied around the current bounds center in X, then Y, then Z order. Moving a part changes its coordinates, although a slicer may recenter it on import. Neither operation changes the triangle count.

For a predictable revision, change one property at a time. A uniform scale changes mounting holes and wall thickness along with the outside shape; it cannot enlarge a hole while leaving the body untouched. Keep the original dimensions and inspect a test print for fit.

Individual vertex selection, cutting, boolean operations, text insertion and mesh repair are unavailable here. Reset original geometry restores the imported shape, and that reset can itself be undone. The session retains up to 100 edits. Across several visits, downloaded revisions are your record; the workspace does not save a project between sessions.

File Precision and Session Limits

Import accepts one STL at a time, no larger than 25 MiB or 400,000 triangles. Coordinates are interpreted as millimeters because STL carries no unit metadata. Binary export uses 32-bit coordinates, so very small details or large offsets can lose precision. Export before refreshing or leaving this page; a new workspace does not retain your geometry or history.

A FEW THINGS TO KNOW

Questions About Editing Downloaded Meshes

Can I edit STL online without paying?

Yes. This online STL editor includes transforms, preview, undo history and STL download for free, with no account required. Processing happens on your device; there is no model upload step.

Can I change just one hole or face?

No. Operations affect the complete mesh. Use a CAD or mesh modeling application for local feature changes, then return here if you need a final whole-part adjustment.

Does orbiting the preview rotate the exported part?

No. Orbit changes the camera. Select Rotate, enter the desired angles and use Apply rotation to change the coordinates written to your download.

Can I keep working after closing the tab?

Only by reopening an exported file. There is no autosave or cloud project, and reopening geometry does not restore earlier undo steps. Keep the source separately.

Will editing make a model printable?

A size or orientation change does not repair holes, check printer tolerances or certify a solid. Review the output and slicing preview before fabrication.

Should I edit STL online or use CAD?

Use this workspace for a quick transform of an existing mesh. Use CAD when you need construction dimensions, constraints, new features or a redesign that preserves particular interfaces.
